First Newsletter of 2021: Query about In-Person Classes

The only meaningful thing we can offer one another is love. Not advice, not questions about our choices, not suggestions for the future, just love.
― Glennon Doyle

Hello Friends!

If you’re only going to read the first paragraph on this letter then all you need to know is Thursday morning Root River class is a special Yin Yoga class with the option of showing up in your comfy pj’s. You can join for this class even if you don’t usually practice with Root River.

I was in the midst of writing a love letter of gratitude for you all when Heather contacted Infinity teachers to let us know she was opening Infinity if teachers were interested in holding classes.  I have spent the rest of the weekend sitting with that.

I will still write the reflective piece and maybe share it. For now I just want you to know that as I look back on what I’ve been through this past year, the main constant in my life has been my yoga practice, and all of you. I don’t know what I would have done without you. Thank you.

As for in-person classes, I have some mixed emotions. I would love to see you again, especially those of you who can’t make it to Zoom classes. With the added precautions of 12 feet between us all while we’re practicing and everyone wearing a mask, I believe we could meet with minimal risk.  I would continue offering classes via Zoom as I did right before Infinity closed down so this wouldn’t negatively effect any of those who are happy with our Zoom practice. It could be a way to bring the group back together a bit during the cold time of year when we might really need the camaraderie.

I am also very aware that practicing in a mask isn’t comfortable. And with the same prop restrictions we were dealing with before, it’s not exactly going to feel like normal times. Not to mention our community is not yet out of the woods when it comes to Covid hospitalizations so opening up feels a bit counterintuitive. So when Heather asked me if I was going to teach in person, I didn’t have an easy answer for her.

On the official Infinity schedule our classes are going to be listed as Zoom only. I am opening up registration for our group only, for Monday Jan 11th at 8:15am and Friday Jan 15th at 7:45am so we can give it a try and see how it goes. There is room for 4 students and me, if 3 or 4 of you want to meet in person and try practicing in a mask to see how it is, let me know. If not, I will understand and we will wait a bit longer and I’ll put my energy towards a renewed effort to record.

Classes will still be available via Zoom no matter what. Please reach out to me with any questions or ideas, or to let me know how you feel about all of this.

So much love,

Elle
